Uncharted Waters was incorporated as a 501c3 charitable religious trust on December 24, 1996. Ever since its inception, Uncharted Waters has focused on empowering local churches to use sports as an evangelistic and discipleship tool. Uncharted Waters has been blessed by God and has grown each year in its influence with churches and sports ministry.

UW Sports Ministry now has decentralized its approach to ministry serving eight distinct regions of the United States simultaneously. Empowering a regional staff in conjunction with local churches will carry the ministry philosophy deep into the 21st century.

Our Beliefs

We believe that:

  • The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God, a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life. We believe the Bible is without error. (Psalm 19:7-10; Isaiah 34:16; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12)

  • There is only one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 16:13-15; Acts 2:16-47; Hebrews 1:1,2; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

  • Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, where, at the right hand of God, He is now our High Priest and Advocate. (Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 53:1-12; Matt. 1:18-23; Matt. 28:1-6)

  • The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age, to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service. (Romans 8:9-11; Romans 8:14-16; Romans 8:26-27; I Cor. 2:10-14)

  • Humans were created, either natural-born biological male or natural-born biological female in the image of God, but fell into sin and are therefore lost. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained. (Gen. 1:27; Gen 3; John 11:25-27; Hebrews 9:14; Rev. 22:17, Col. 1:21-22)

  • Sin is the transgression of God’s law (I John 3:4, Exodus 20:1-17), as revealed by the Holy Spirit through his eternal Word.  (Eph. 2:1-22; Romans 5:12; Romans 5:19; Romans 7:14-25)

  • Those who repent of their sins and trust in Christ make up the Church, who will reign with Him in eternity. (Matt. 16:27; Romans 1:19-32: Eph. 2:1-10; Acts 17:26-31)

  • True believers in Christ must not yield themselves to sinful passions and instead must strive to pursue righteousness (Rom. 6:5-11; II Tim. 2:22; Romans 1:24-27), “so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Col.1:10) When we fall short of this calling, believers should respond with confession and repentance, rather than continued rebellion (I John 1:9)

  • The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for the justification and salvation for all who believe. Only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God. (Col. 1:21-22: Eph. 2:1-10; I Cor. 15:21-22; Romans 5:6)

  • Jesus Christ commissions every believer to make disciples of all peoples, and local churches are an integral part of reaching the world for Christ. (Acts 13:1-3; Matt. 24:14; Matt. 28:18-20; John 20:21)
